Jim graduated from Waukon High School. On 6 Aug 1945 he entered the service and took training at Camp Roberts, CA. He was medically discharged 18 Dec 1945 due to a reaction to a small pox vaccination. On 4 Aug 1947 he married Joyce Lorene Brooks at Decorah, IA. Joyce was born near Ladysmith, Wi to William Herbert and Gladys Ruby (Huffman) Brooks. William was born 28 Mar 1897 and Gladys was born 25 Dec 1902, both in Allamakee Co. They were married 16 Jun 1920. Joyce’s brothers and sisters were: Delmar Arden, married Marcella Thayer and after her death Sarah Susan Duff; Dorothy Hazel (m. Ralph Nelson), Dolores Mae (m. Arnold Rohm); and William Herbert, Jr. (m. Dorothy Mae Brown).

James worked at the Equity Co-op. in Waukon for 8 years until 1961. The family moved to Cumberland, WI where he worked at the Farmers Co-op. until 1973. They then moved to Augusta, WI where he currently lives. He worked at the Augusta Farmers Union until he retired in 1994. Presently he works part time at Days Inn in Eau Claire, WI.

Jim and Joyce had 7 children: Barry, Kathleen, William, Brian, Bradley, Robert and Julie. Barry Michael born 3 Sep 1948 at Waukon and died 15 Jan 1964 at Cumberland where he is buried. Kathleen “Kathy” born at Waukon and graduated from Cumberland High School and from Hennepin County School of Nursing in Minneapolis in 1971 with a BS in Health Arts in 1980 and a MS in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1995 from University of Wisconsin, Stout at Menomonie, WI. In 1974 she was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force and stationed in Zaragosa, Spain for 3 years. She then transferred to the U.S. Air Force Reserves in 1977 as a flight nurse in C-130 aircraft. As a Lt. Col. she was activated for Desert Storm and stationed at Lakenheath Air Base, England. Kathy married David Michael Marschinke 4 Jul 1981    at Augusta. David was born at St. Paul, MN to Marvin and Marguerite Dorothy (Miesel) Marschinke. David earned a BS in Elementary Education in 1968. He taught in St. Paul for 25 years, retiring in 1993. He also was on active duty in the U.S. Navy - enlisted in 1965 and retired in 1990 as MSgt. David was formerly married and has 2 children, Tina and Paul. Tina married James Burchard in 1986 and they have 2 boys: Alex and Jack. Kathy is now working as a nurse therapist and David drives a van for Metro Mobility (handicapped riders). Kathy and David are active in their church (North Heights Lutheran) where Kathy is a lay counselor in the counseling clinic and David is in training. William Brooks was born at Waukon. On 5 Jun 1976 he married Kathleen “Kathy" Ann Schmidt at Cumberland. After graduation from Cumberland High School in 1972 Kathy and Bill attended the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, graduating in May 1976. Bill earned a BA degree in Economics and a minor in Data Processing. Kathy earned a BA degree in Social Work. They moved to Stevens Point, WI where Bill began a computer programming career at Sentry Insurance 7 Jun 1976. Bill and Kathy’s 3 children were born at St. Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point: Jeffrey Barry, Alyssa Kathleen and Krista Ann. Bill and Kathy are active members in the Stevens Point Evangelical Free Church where Bill served frequently on the Church Board and Kathy was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. Brian James was born at Waukon. He married Barbara Jean Bell 5 May 1979 at Neillsville, WI. They have 2 children: Carrie Lynn and Amanda Joyce. Brian and Barbara were divorced in Dec 1992. Brian is a court reporter for the Lafayette County Circuit in Darlington, WI and reports for the Honorable William D. Johnston, Circuit Judge. Bradley Paul was born at Waukon. He married Rhonda Sue Kunz of Augusta 19 Dec 1992 in Nelson, WI. Rhonda was born to Ronald George Kunz (born in Augusta) and Sue Ann Lucille Volrath (born in Chippewa Falls, WI). Brad and Rhonda graduated form Augusta High School in 1979. Brad attended University of Wisconsin, Stout, and Rhonda graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). Both are employed in Wabasha, MN. Brad is a commercial printer and part-time golf instructor. Rhonda is an advertising director for UNI-PATCH. Brad and Rhonda have 2 sons, Lucas Brooks at Wabasha and Shea Leo. Robert Joseph was born at Cumberland. He married Donna Deane Sieg 25 Apr 1992. Donna is the daughter of William Ernest and Norma Louise (Barka) Sieg. Bob and Donna graduated from Augusta High School. Bob has a BS degree in Business Administration from University of Wisconsin, Stout, at Menomonie, WI in 1987. Donna has a daughter Mallory Michele and Bob and Donna have 2 children: Abby Kathleen and Joseph William. Bob is a Senior Claims Representative for Progressive Insurance and has his office at his home in Eau Claire. Julie Ann was born at Cumberland. She lives at Mount
